AMS+ Learning Community is CHAM’s new hybrid pathway to the Asset Management Specialist certificate, offered in partnership with HAI Group Housing Training Institute. This program equips you with the fundamentals of multifamily affordable housing asset management, focusing on property performance, owner goals, and the critical exchange of information between development, property management, and ownership.

With AMS+ you’ll complete the standard self-paced Asset Management Specialist certificate courses plus join live, facilitator-led sessions and engage with peers. It’s our popular AMS certificate program enhanced with structure, coaching, and a built-in community of practice.

Who this is for:

    • Affordable housing workers employed at nonprofits, for-profits, syndicators, investors, lenders, Housing Finance Agencies, Public Housing Authorities and government.

“The tools, templates, and formulas from AMS+ became an instant jumping-off point for my portfolio work. I even picked up Excel tips, like the amortization shortcut, that I now use every day.”

Is AMS+ different content from AMS?

The core AMS content is the same; AMS+ adds facilitated live sessions, a cohort experience, and structured accountability to the existing program.

Do I need to attend all live sessions?

The best parts of AMS+ are peer collaboration and access to a facilitator to ask questions. Without you there is limited collaboration for your peers. That is why we strongly recommend attending all sessions for the best experience, and to stay on track with milestones. However, if you must miss a session, it will be recorded and made available to the cohort.

How big is the cohort?

20-25 attendees, small enough for robust discussion and large enough to learn from peers across the country.

Will I have access to materials after the program?

Yes, your on-demand course access continues 1 year after your start date. And the cohort collaboration forum will be available for 2 weeks following the date of the last live session of the program.

What are the opportunities to join an AMS+ Learning Community?

Yes, we will be launching another AMS+ cohort in Spring 2026. To be the first to learn of details and registration announcements, join our interest list here.

Are the regular self-paced, on-demand courses still available?

Yes, the standard Asset Management Specialist certificate program is available on-demand through HAI Group Housing Training Institute and you can take it at your own pace without being part of a cohort. To purchase the courses click here

“Being part of a statewide AMS+ cohort was invaluable. The chance to learn alongside other affordable housing professionals across California made the program not only educational but also a true community experience.”
